Get ready for the transition to Truist.

BB&T and SunTrust are now one bank—but many products and services haven’t transitioned to Truist yet. We want to make sure you’re in the know, so here’s a timeline of when to expect important changes.

  • 2019 – The transformation begins. BB&T and SunTrust are legally now Truist.
  • 2020 – BB&T and SunTrust roll out blended branches.
  • 2020 – BB&T Capital Markets & SunTrust Robinson Humphrey become Truist Securities.
  • Early 2021 – Truist Wealth is launched.
  • Early 2021 – Initial Truist treasury products become available and will continue rolling out during the next several months.
  • Mid-2021 – Initial Truist online banking and mobile app becomes available and will continue rolling out during the next several months.
  • Late 2021 – Truist consumer and commercial products become available online and in BB&T branches. Current BB&T clients will see their products transition to Truist.
  • Early 2022 – Truist consumer and commercial products become available in SunTrust branches. Current SunTrust clients will see their products transition to Truist.
  • Early 2022 – Signage changes from BB&T and SunTrust to Truist at your favorite branch and ATM locations.
  • Early 2022 – SunTrust debit cards become Truist debit cards.
  • Early 2022 – BB&T and SunTrust mortgages become Truist mortgages.

For now, there will be little to no changes on how and where you bank. What this means for you:

  • Your account and routing numbers will remain the same.
  • There's no need to order new checks or deposit slips, so continue using these as you normally would.
  • Your direct deposits will continue as usual.
  • Automatic drafts that use your account number and our routing number will remain unchanged.
  • If you currently use wire services, no changes are required to your wire instructions (account number or routing number).

We're working to build a better banking experience for you. This requires an update to our existing systems.

BB&T clients can make cash withdrawals at any SunTrust ATM with no fee. Fees incurred while using non-BB&T ATMs during the systems transition will be refunded (both the Truist fee of $3.00 and the non-Truist fee of up to $3.00).

We expect all systems including mobile app, online banking, BB&T ATMs, and the Truist Contact Center to be back up and running by Sunday, October 10.

During the transition, BB&T clients will be unable to make deposits, transfer money, or access bill pay through online banking or the mobile app.

For BB&T clients, online banking and the mobile app will be unavailable during the transition, so you won’t be able to access the bill pay feature. Also, branches won’t be able to process payments or any other transactions during this time.

Bill payments are only processed on business days. If your recurring bill payment deliver by date falls on the weekend, it will be processed at least one (1) day before the actual deliver by date. 

Yes. You can continue to use your debit card and credit card for purchases as you usually would at all points of sale, cash back requests at retailer, and at non-BB&T ATMs.

Zelle® will be unavailable to BB&T clients from Saturday, October 9, through noon Sunday, October 10. You won't be able to send any Zelle® payments during this time. If payments are sent to you during this time they will be held and processed once Zelle® is back up.

You won’t be able to make payments during the systems transition on October 9. We encourage you to take care of any payments and banking needs prior to this date.

Until SunTrust completes the transition to Truist in early 2022, checks drawn on BB&T can only be cashed at BB&T-branded branches.

Once systems are up, your account balance information will be available through online banking on Truist.com and Truist Mobile. We expect all systems including BB&T-branded ATMs to be back up and running by Sunday, October 10.

For now, continue banking as you normally would. Until SunTrust completes the transition to Truist in early 2022, you’ll need to continue using a BB&T-branded branch for your banking needs.
