Walter focuses on venture investments in fintech companies, working across sourcing, diligence, and execution, and partnering with portfolio companies to build relationships across Truist's commercial franchise. He also supports the bank's broader inorganic growth agenda, including M&A, divestitures, and enterprise strategic partnerships.
Walter brings both VC and private credit experience to his role at Truist Ventures. He joins Truist Ventures from Concentric Investment Partners, a Raleigh-based private credit fund, where he underwrote mezzanine debt and structured equity investments in lower-middle-market companies alongside private equity sponsors.
Before that, Walter spent three years as a Senior Associate at Ballast Point Ventures, a Series A-stage VC firm in Tampa, where he led and executed investments in software, payments, and marketplace companies across the Southeast and worked with founders and management teams as they scaled. He began his career in investment banking at North Inlet Advisors in Charlotte, advising middle-market companies on buy-side and sell-side M&A, and later underwrote private credit investments at Route 2 Capital Partners in Charleston, South Carolina.
A native North Carolinian, Walter is an Eagle Scout and a graduate of the National Outdoor Leadership School's Alaska mountaineering program. He holds a Bachelor of Economics with a minor in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
