Truist plants 1 millionth tree for LightStream clients

Environment

Each time a virtually paperless LightStream loan is made, Truist plants a tree on behalf of the client.

Truist’s LightStream subsidiary offers virtually paperless fixed-rate loans to consumers for things like home improvement projects, credit card consolidation, medical expenses, automobiles, recreational vehicles, and boats.

With each loan, Truist plants a tree on behalf of clients through a partnership with American Forests, whose mission is to slow climate change and advance social equity through healthy forests and ecological preservation.

We pledged to plant 1 million trees by 2022 as part of the World Economic Forum’s Trillion Tree Movement—and we achieved that goal.

In addition to supporting wilderness sites across the U.S., more than 30% of these trees are planted as part of efforts to restore habitats and help mitigate the extinction of endangered species, including the whitebark pine, which is threatened by non-native fungal diseases, wildfires, insects, and climate change.

By the numbers:

  • 800 acres of trees planted in 2022 through the Truist LightStream-American Forests partnership

  • 1M+ cumulative number of trees planted through the partnership since inception in 2013
