SEC Order Disclosure and Execution Quality Disclosures

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) requires brokers that route equity and option orders to make certain order information publicly available under Rules 605 and 606 of Regulation NMS.

Rule 605 requires covered brokers to publish monthly reports containing standardized execution quality statistics, including information regarding execution speed, price improvement, and other measures of execution performance.

Rule 606 requires brokers that route equity and option orders to publish quarterly reports (broken out by month) providing statistical information about their order-routing practices. These reports identify the market centers (such as exchanges, market makers, or alternative trading systems) to which customer orders are routed and describe the material aspects of the broker’s relationships with those market centers.
