About me

Background

Jeff Hassler is a Senior Trust Advisor and Senior Vice President with GenSpring | Truist Wealth. He provides advanced estate planning guidance to ultra-high net worth clients in the context of comprehensive wealth management and administers large and complex trust and fiduciary accounts.

Jeff joined GenSpring in 2020 following the merger of SunTrust and BB&T to form Truist. An estate planning attorney, Jeff practiced with the Private Wealth Services group of McGuireWoods LLP in Richmond, where he worked with wealthy families on estate planning, fiduciary risk and litigation, tax strategy, and philanthropic planning.

At BB&T, Jeff served as a Regional Director of Trust Services, leading a successful and dynamic team of trust officers and trust administrators in the mid-Atlantic region. He was also a Personal Trust Specialist, working closely with clients and their advisors to address estate planning needs, grow and protect wealth, and resolve family conflict, while also administering all fiduciary aspects of sophisticated trust, estate, and investment accounts.

Jeff graduated cum laude from Pepperdine University (J.D.) in 2008 and summa cum laude from Wheaton College, Illinois (B.A., Political Science) in 2003. He is a member of the Virginia State Bar and clerked for Chief Justice Donald W. Lemons of the Supreme Court of Virginia. He serves on the board of the Virginia Law Foundation and is a member of the Trust Administrators Council of Richmond (past president) and the Estate Planning Council of Richmond. He lives in Richmond with his wife Lyric and their four daughters.
