About me

Background

William Taylor is a Financial Advisor with Truist Investment Services, Inc., working with business owners and real estate investors and helping manage their family’s financial affairs. As a Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist™ professional, he also specializes in designing, installing and periodically reviewing retirement plans for companies and nonprofits. A fourth generation advisor, William works with his father, Rocky Taylor, and is supported by Ryan Young.

Previously, William spent 3 years at a Georgia-based investment bank, raising money for leveraged transactions, and then 2 years as a fundraiser, teacher, coach and dorm parent at an Episcopal boarding school in eastern Virginia. He has also earned his Executive MBA from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Business. This previous experience affords him a unique perspective when conversing with business owners and finance teams about the inner workings of their business and industry, and when discussing his clients’ charitable intentions.

Personal Interests

At Truist, William co-chairs the PRIDE Business Resource Group of Virginia, supporting and advocating for LGBTQ colleagues, communities and clients, and due to his focus on advising members of the LGBTQ community, William was selected to the Truist Wealth Diverse Advisor Council.  Additionally, he's the head of Mid-Atlantic Top Gun, an adviser professional development group at Truist Investment Services.

Outside of Truist, William serves as the treasurer of his church, St. Paul’s Memorial Church at the University of Virginia, and is also a trustee and investment committee member of the Trustees of the Funds, a related organization to the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia that provides outsourced endowment management to church congregations, schools and related organizations. He's a VCU Alumni Ambassador, helping the School of Business recruit new EMBA students, and is a Class Agent at his high school alma mater, Suffield Academy. William is a graduate of Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Charlottesville and the Center for Nonprofit Excellence’s Board Academy, is a current member of the Financial Planning Association Central Virginia, and has previously spent time as a high school JV lacrosse coach.

William enjoys college sports, musical theater and museums, is married and has a daughter.
