Background
Natalie Smailes is a Managing Director of the Center for Family Legacy, delivering ultra-high-net-worth families with tailored advice designed to increase their chances of sustaining wealth over generations. In this role, Natalie works alongside wealth advisors to help clients identify their personal and business wealth objectives and develop appropriate methods for governing their shared assets. Natalie provides her expertise to the delivery of family meetings and education programs, and she works with the Center for Family Legacy Governance and Education teams to manage and implement their efforts.
Natalie has over 30 years of experience working with ultra-high-net-worth individuals and addressing their needs for financial planning, insurance, investment management, estate planning, and banking. She joined Truist Wealth in 2015, first working as a wealth advisor and financial advisor, then joined the Center for Family Legacy three years later. Prior to that, she worked at First Citizens Bank and First Union Bank in their wealth management groups.
Personal Interests
Natalie is a mother to her sons Jake and Josh and grandmother to her grandson Kuba. She is also a native Ohioan, has spent time living in Denver, Colorado and currently resides in Wake Forest, NC. Natalie served as the Secretary and President of the North Carolina Community Foundation for Wake County for 10 years. In her tenure, she worked to develop the Board as well as to develop a greater presence for the foundation within the community by increasing Board Membership three-fold and establishing an annual fundraising event. In her free time, Natalie enjoys yoga, open water swimming events and cooking.
