About me

Background

John Hondros has the skillset and intimate knowledge of understanding the complex financial challenges of the professional athlete. This helped make him the ideal candidate to open Charlotte, North Carolina’s Sports and Entertainment Banking Division for Truist in 2004.

John serves as his clients’ financial guide and provides them with a wide range of solutions to help achieve financial success. His relationship-oriented attitude, along with a commitment to “speaking the language” of his clients, has proven invaluable when managing the portfolios of 600+ wealth clients.

 John brings over 20 years of superior service and the experience of managing the financial goals of an assortment of high-net-worth individuals, athletes, and entertainers including NFL players; NBA players; professional golfers; NASCAR drivers, owners, and crew chiefs; as well as musicians. Above all else, he understands the desire for confidentiality while helping clients enjoy their wealth throughout their lifetime.

John’s mission to serve clients does not stop at the financial level. He also serves on the boards of several organizations. Currently, he’s on the board of directors of the Martin Truex Jr. Foundation, Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center Foundation, Brad Keselowski’s Checkered Flag Foundation, the Samantha and Kyle Busch Bundle of Joy Fund, Host Committee for the Waltrip Brothers’ Charity Championship, a board member of the North Carolina Motorsports Association, and the Richard Petty’s Family Office Group. He has also served as co-chair for Sprint Sound & Speed Presented by Truist.
He and his wife, Brooke, raise their two teenage boys, John Peter and Jacob. He enjoys golfing, skiing, hunting, and fishing. He also enjoys attending live concerts, sporting events, and supporting client charity events and fundraisers. He’s a native of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and currently resides in Cornelius, North Carolina.

Hello. I'm John Hondros, managing director with the Sports and Entertainment Group of Truist Wealth Management. I'm a native of Winston-Salem, North Carolina but my clients are nationwide. Inspired by my father's legacy, as a financial advisor, I've had the pleasure of serving my community as a professional in the financial services industry for over 20 years. Today, I specialize in helping high net worth individuals in music and sports to create financial plans and manage their assets, whether they're just starting out as a recording artist or planning for retirement from a major sports league. My clients benefit from my intimate knowledge of these specialized services which enables me to address their unique needs and propose solutions that help them achieve their goals. I can call upon a number of experts on my team to address any potential need that my clients have while maintaining the confidentiality that they desire. In addition to serving my clients, I'm passionate about serving my community. I support a number of very important causes, including children with cancer, first responders, and veterans. I'm also on the board of directors of a major hospital that serves the region.
