About me

Background

John P. Hondros, a native of Winston-Salem, NC, and graduate of Elon University, has a strong understanding of the complex financial challenges of the professional athlete.  This knowledge and understanding for the business helped him in his role of opening the Charlotte, North Carolina’s Sports and Entertainment Banking Division for SunTrust Bank, Inc. (now Truist) in 2004.

Immersed in the culture of Sports & Entertainment, John serves as a valuable financial guide, providing his clients with a wide range of solutions to help achieve financial well-being. His relationship-oriented attitude, along with a commitment to "speaking the language" of his clients has proven invaluable when managing the portfolios of 600+ wealth clients. 

John brings over 25+ years of quality service and the experience of managing the financial goals of an assortment of high-net-worth individuals, athletes and entertainers including NFL players, NBA players, professional golfers, NASCAR drivers, owners and crew chiefs, as well as musicians.  Above all else, John understands the desire for confidentiality while helping his clients enjoy their wealth throughout their lifetime.

John’s mission to serve his clients does not stop at the financial level.  He also serves on the board of several organizations.  Currently, he is on the Board of Directors of the Martin Truex Jr. Foundation, Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center Foundation, Brad Keselowski’s Checkered Flag Foundation, The Samantha and Kyle Busch Bundle of Joy Fund, Host Committee for the Waltrip Brothers’ Charity Championship, a board member of the North Carolina Motorsports Association, Richard Petty’s Family Office Group and he also served as co-chair for Sprint Sound & Speed Presented by Truist. He and his wife, Brooke, raise their two teenage boys, John Peter and Jacob. He enjoys golfing, skiing, hunting, and fishing. He also enjoys attending live concerts, sporting events, and supporting client charity events and fundraisers. He's a native of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and currently resides in Cornelius, North Carolina.
