Who we are

The Lipman Peters Group of Truist Investment Services, Inc. is a financial planning based, wealth management advisory team serving the Central Florida region. Our mission is to help improve the lives of our clients and their families through the implementation of financial planning and advice.

Cary Lipman started the practice in 1997.  As he continued to grow, he wanted to ensure that he could maintain a very high service level to his existing clients, and new relationships choosing to work with him.  

Ted Peters joined the practice in 2006 to help ensure that objective continued to be met.  Cary and Ted had worked together previously, and were confident they could operate a successful partnership. 

Lief Johnson, CFP® came to SunTrust, now Truist, in 2004 as a Wealth Advisor.  He and Cary worked closely on several of Cary’s best relationships until Cary and Ted offered Lief the opportunity to work with The Lipman Peters Group exclusively, providing the financial planning services that have become the basis of their team approach.  

In 2018, Patrick Culhane, CFP®, CFA® joined the team to continue the strategy of optimizing investment management, and improving efficiencies in the process of portfolio management.  Patrick and Lief also address the need for a succession plan, as Cary and Ted get closer to retirement. 

Of course, no team can succeed without tremendous support.  Chelsea Lipman Sauerland joined the team in 2019, primarily in support of Lief in the financial planning process, as well as assisting with client events.  Nicole Clark joined the team in 2020 and handles the essential role of managing operations and compliance for The Lipman Peters Group.

The Lipman Peters Group of Truist Investment Services, Inc. spends the first meeting with any new client engaging in a conversation designed to understand individual and family goals, objectives, and time horizons.  We ask for information about their family dynamics, their thought process in making financial decisions, risk tolerance, and details of their current financial position.  

We then host a second meeting to review data and assumptions to confirm all information is correct.  Once confirmed, our team collaborates to run projections for retirement planning and recommendations for investment management that align with the accomplishment of their goals and objectives.  

Once a relationship is established, we continue to update the financial planning assumptions at least once a year to ensure we maintain a relevant understanding of their needs, and can respond appropriately to any life changes, or simply changes in thought process.  Life happens, and our goal is to be the primary resource for help at every stage.  We never want to be in a position where too much time has elapsed between meetings, and risk losing touch with what is important.  There are exceptions to everything, so we have the ability to be flexible if the individual or family has a circumstance that justifies a different approach to their relationship, but that is rare in our practice.  

In subsequent meetings, we continue to address additional topics including estate and legacy planning conversations, risk management, asset protection, education, long term care planning, and anything else deemed to be important to them.  Throughout the entire process, our team monitors investment holdings, allocations, and performance as a committee to ensure we are aware of the impact of investment decisions on the accomplishment of their specific goals.  We are proactive in our communication, and want that to be a cornerstone in the relationship.
